A lot has happened between the early days in their dad’s club and their worldwide hits and gigs. Kris Kross Amsterdam has evolved into a global concept.
Formed in the Dutch capital in 2011 brothers Sander and Jordy set about creating a sound, which forged their myriad influences together in seamless fashion. Although they were fans of the house and techno sounds that dominated their home country, they missed the rap and rap-related sounds they grew up listening to and so they decided to do something about it.
They start throwing parties in the city under the Kris Kross name where they could play exactly what they wanted to; an unconventional mix of R&B, hiphop, twerk, trap and house. These events rapidly became some of the most talk-about in the city for lovers of beats and bass. In 2014, MC Yuki Kempees joined the duo to perform vocal duties, taking their already raucous club shows to the next level and ready to take over the world. Kris Kross Amsterdam was a fact!
The parties and performance did not remain unobserved for long... A deal followed in 2015 with the largest dance label in the world: Spinnin’ Records. That year the trio immediately released their first release ‘Until The Morning’. This track was their first minor success and the guys got the taste. In the same year the trio also released their debut single ‘Until The Morning’, which has proved to be a small hit. However, these accomplishments faded away with the release of their following smash hit.
Follow-up ‘SEX’ with Los Angeles outfit Cheat Codes exceeded lofty expectations once again, flipping Salt-N-Pepa’s classic ‘Let’s Talk About Sex’ on its head in a tropical R&B style. This anthem picked up over 488 million plays on Spotify alone and more than 126 million views on YouTube, breaking all the records. ‘SEX’ dominated the charts from Europe to Russia, aired on major radio stations like Kiss FM and Capita, reached Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Electronic & Dance Chart and the Spotify Chart top 20 in over 20 countries, and went platinum in multiple countries such as Holland and Sweden to name a few. It was the introduction of Kris Kross Amsterdam to the entire world.
An unprecedented success and many foreign artists lined up to work with the boys. This was followed by a collaboration with the British pop star Conor Maynard and the American hip-hop artist Ty Dollar $ign. The track 'Are You Sure?' stormed the charts with more than 46 million streams on Spotify.
Last June, the trio released the song 'WhenEver', a remake of the song 'Whenever, Whenever' by Shakira. Together with The Boy Next Door and Conor Maynard, Kris Kross Amsterdam has turned this classic into a track with the sound of this moment. This summer track set the world on fire in no time and was immediately bombarded into the summer hit of 2018. The numbers of streams show this clearly. Within 6 weeks, 22 million streams on Spotify. Up to this day, 770,000 streams are added every day. As if this is not crazy enough yet; the song is included in the Today's Top Hits with 21 million followers, which guarantees a worldwide hit. With this, the DJ trio has a mega hit after SEX once again.
Despite the success, they have not lost their Amsterdam mentality. Kris Kross Amsterdam prefers to build 'parties'. With their energetic performances they know how to respond to every audience. All gigs - from small to large – go completely berserk. This ensures that the trio is a popular DJ act at many festivals and in many clubs. For example, in recent years they played in clubs from Ibiza to Moscow, toured through Asia and America and were booked for
large festivals at home and abroad. Examples are Mysteryland, Tomorrowland in Belgium and Exit Festival in Serbia. Last summer the boys added something very special to their list of performances. They were asked for the most prestigious dance festival in the world: Ultra Music Festival in Miami. A golden move: their performance was a huge hit and they were included in the 'Ultra family'. This led to additional performances on Ultra South Korea & Ultra Bejing.
